Hello Elvangeline, Good post. Human beings are by nature sociable creatures. COVID 19 transmission has been effectively decreased as a result of the steps implemented to combat the disease's spread. However, many citizens' mental health has deteriorated as a result of a lack of social engagement. Social isolation, lockdowns, and social distancing have all exacerbated cases of melancholy, stress, and mental instability. Mental health concerns during the pandemic are also related to the difficult economic conditions, job losses, mortality, and uncertainties associated with the Covid 19 pandemic. Homicides may have increased during the pandemic due to an increase in mental health disorders. Domestic violence-related deaths have increased significantly after the implementation of social distancing measures that confine victims to their abusers (Amin, 2022). The data analysis revealed that employing measures such as lockdown to contain the distribution of Covid 19 was associated with an increase in killings. This was most noticeable in an increase in femicides as a result of an increase in occurrences of gender-based violence. The findings corroborate the theoretical basis for lockdowns. The shift in lifestyle, the health of the economy, and decreased social interactions all played a role in deciding homicide rates. Americans will remember 2020 as the year of Covid 19, when the economy collapsed, elections were held, and a substantial increase in homicides occurred. References Amin, P. (2022).
