 Identify one policy or program that would be relevant to the circumstances in the case study. “A social worker must be able to identify problems and access relevant resources to alleviate identified problems” (Popple & Leighninger, 2019).The Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996, which funds the Family Violence Prevention and Services Act (FVPSA), is one law that applies to Luisa's situation. The purpose of the several organizations that are financed by FVPSA and located in various towns is to assist immigrants and children, especially those who are victims of domestic violence. Health Human Services has not recognized FVPSA funds as a federal public benefit program that necessitates the verification of immigration status, and the FVPSA does not contain any immigration restrictions.  Explain how the perspective you chose (e.g., culture, immigration, geography) informs: o The perceived need for the policy. o The ability to implement the policy both generally and specifically for the client in the case study. When working with a victim of domestic violence, a variety of social problems need to be taken into account. For a concrete example, consider the acceptance of domestic abuse, the low social position of women, oppressive political systems, and demeaning core religious doctrines. Even after a family migrates and settles in the United States, these cultural elements may continue to fuel domestic violence inside the family. The acceptance of domestic violence may also be brought from the original environments of immigrant families along with other cultural attitudes. “Cultural humility in trauma- informed practice is of paramount importance when working with underserved minority populations” (Rides At The Door & Trautman, 2019). The necessity for such policies is informed by immigration since women in immigrant communities are particularly exposed to domestic violence and may get trapped because of linguistic obstacles, a lack of resources, and a lack of social interaction. As a result of the FVPSA grant, Luisa will have a safe place to live and be able to look for work, which will enable her to resolve the sponsorship of Andres issue while completing her goals of a reunion and protecting her family.
