PBHL 310 Week 7 Assignment (30pts) Instructions: Answer each of the questions and submit the assignment to D2L by the due date. Be sure to include everything that is required for each question. Question 1 (5pts): In the United States, why do African Americans die at a greater frequency than Caucasians from cancer, even today? Discuss the disparities in cancer in regards to race/ethnicity and socioeconomic status. Be sure to include some data to support your answer. Your answer should be approximately 200-300 words and include in-text citations and one resource other than the textbook . List all references per APA style used for answering the questions. In the United States African Americans die from cancer more than Caucasians do. The reason why African Americans are dying more than Caucasians in the United states is because of three main types of cancers that a mostly found in African Americans and these cancers are colorectal, lung, and prostate. For the risk of lung can cancer smoking has decreased and continuing to decrease smoking would result in lower lung cancer cases a year. For most people who smoke risk the chance of getting lung cancer but never get early detection screens, when they finally feel really ill is usually when the cancer cells have multiplied and there may be a chance of removing the cancer or recovering. One of the main issues in the united states is that black individuals do not earn as much money as whites do and cannot afford medical attention as well as whites. Although cancer rates over all have decreased for African American men it isn’t the same for African American women. (See next page for an example of the form you will fill out for each of the 3 days) (15pts) Saturday 14 th no food for breakfast drank coffee with two creams and 6 sugars, lunch was 3 pieces if red baron cheese pizza, no snacks, for dinner was Tyson chicken nuggets with bbq sauce, and I only drank water Sunday 15 th Banana for breakfast with milk, lunch Caesar salad with chicken and water, snack was doritos, and dinner was creole mac and cheese from rainforest café. Monday 16 th no breakfast just coffee, no lunch, no snack, and for dinner was a baked potato with salt pepper and butter with a coke. C. After tracking what you ate for 3 days in a row, what have you observed about your diet? List 3 things you are doing well in regards to your diet. (5pts) I am not eating enough calories and I am not burning off what I do eat. I need to make time to eat food and healthier options. D. Based on tracking the foods you ate and completing the MyPlate Plan form of foods for each food group for those 3 days, list 3 personal goals you have for building healthy eating habits. (3pts) 3 personal goal I had made were to include more fruits and veggies throughout the day and to limit how many grains or breads I eat .
