2 Cross Cultural Practices When Working with Diverse Populations In this essay I will be covering a local agency that the social workers and staff need to use and implement cross cultural practices professionally. I will also research their mission statement and what their vision statement is and how they are applying it to their practice. The clientele will be discussed based on race, culture, and ethnicity. Cultural norms will also play a part in this essay. I chose City of Racine CPS to do my essay on. The Vision: A healthy, educated, and empowered Racine County. Some of the services they offer and coincide with their vision and mission. 4 Cross Cultural Practices When Working with Diverse Populations Services for Elderly and Disabled Residents : The emphasis on the elder services serves focuses on the care and treatment of the elderly in our community. They offer transportation for medical appointments and medication pick up. The set up for meals to be delivered would be made through this agency. It insures that disabled and elderly are taken care of and not abused. People are put into place to help counsel families to deal with feelings and emotions they may have because of challenges or even death. Wisconsin Clients Rights Office (CRO): They are responsible for making sure that clients rights are being followed and explained to the client. This office also follows up on complaints that are made when people feel that their rights were not upheld. The agency ensures that all are treated the same regardless of race, culture, or economic situation. In the conclusion of this essay, I want to share that even with best intentions there are many situations that can become bias in nature. With education and a good moral background, we can put that as a foundation to be able to self-regulate our personal bias. In social work diversity was not always academically addressed. With the proper framework that has been put into place by the Association of Social Work Boards. The evolution of social work and ethics have made great strides in the understanding the importance of equality. It has been referred as colour-blind ideals. With multicultural education we learn more about the sensitivity of cultural differences (Azzopardi, C. 2020).
5 Cross Cultural Practices When Working with Diverse Populations In Canada they have CASWE that is like our ASWB. The responsibility of the educators is to prepare social workers with the skills and knowledge to effectively notice and assess critical situations that may cause oppressive and bias social conditions (Canadian Association for Social Work Education 2014) . The city of Racine has put into place continued education that is mandatory of social workers to keep their license. There are many protocols that one must follow to ensure the care and well being of their clients. Case managers must report to their supervisor before putting into place any orders so that they can be reviewed to ensure every opportunity has been explored and everything has been done ethically and professionally.
