Week 10 Discussion: Reflection and Course Wrap-Up When you complete this course, you’ll be one step closer to your goals. Keep up the positive momentum! Please consider the following questions and then create a written post answering the following: ● How has this course applied to your current and/or future job in the social work profession? Provide at least three specific examples of what you learned in this course and how it applies to your future practice as a social worker. ● Looking ahead, begin to think about next quarter. What courses are you taking next quarter? How will what you learned in this course apply and assist you with that future learning? Through this course, I’ve been able to apply the theories and interventions that were learned and practiced throughout the different role-play activities. At first, the idea of role-playing felt intimidating but when it came to it being able to practice different scenarios real or imagined has helped me in my current social work profession. The role-playing created a safe environment for me to build confidence in my ability to succeed with new interventions and enhance my knowledge of strategies and how to better navigate conversations with potential clients. Three specific examples of what I’ve learned in this course that will be applied to my future practice as a social worker are challenging dysfunctional thoughts, the use of OARS, and the empty chair technique. Next quarter I'm taking SWK5015 Advanced Statistics, Research, and Program Evaluation and SWK5016 Integrative Technology in Advanced Social Work Practice. The different theories and interventions/tools I’ve learned throughout this course will be carried over into my future learning and practices.
