Civic and Global Engagement/Diversity/Biblical Worldview Reflection
A Biblical worldview is a central aspect of a Christian life. This influences our everyday lives in various way through our interactions with others and our view of the world around us. Throughout the Christian life, our Biblical worldview is defined and refined as we grow in spiritual maturity. The framework that dictates how we act and interact in the world is what defines a Biblical worldview. As followers of Christ, we use the Bible as the foundation of our Biblical worldview. Liberty University students have been given plenty of opportunities to develop a stronger Biblical worldview through taking Bible class, attending Convocation, Campus Community, and Community Groups in residential halls. Liberty also allows us to grow in an environment where we are surrounded by Christians who want to see us grow in our love for the Lord. Believers in Jesus Christ have been given the great calling of loving God’s people and sharing the good news of salvation with the world. We successfully do this by transforming ourselves into the image of Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit. One of my goals in life is to have a family someday. A Biblical worldview affects this goal by the way I raise my children. Instead of relying on my own knowledge and strength, I must rely on the Holy Spirit to guide the decisions I make regarding my children to raise them in the ways of God. In the stage of life, I have been placed in as a student, a Christian worldview allows me to do my work to
please God in diligence and discipline. In Colossians, we are called to work heartily for the Lord and not for men because we are serving the Lord God. This completely changes my perspective as to why I am in school and how to get through it.
Culture is a way of life. There are several different cultures across the United States through regions, gender, affluence, and many others. There are four ways to connect people across cultures. First, we need to understand the common ground we share. We are all created in the image of God and no matter who we are, God’s imprint is on our lives. Second, we need to understand the common good we are working towards goes hand in hand with the common grace
God has gifted us with. This means God’s grace fills us and works in all of us. Lastly, our common goal is to re-conform to the image of Christ and let the Holy Spirit renew our lives. A Biblical worldview connects us with those in the world around us as we are all God’s children made in His image. Understanding this principle allows us to properly engage with the world around us. Throughout the learning process of a Biblical worldview, it has been revealed to me what
it truly means to have a Biblical worldview. As a believer, I am called to see the world through the lens of Scripture and what God’s Word says. The only way to sharpen and strengthen my Biblical worldview is to constantly spend time in the Word, meditate on it, pray and fast to completely understand what God is saying to me. A Biblical worldview is one of the most important aspects of the Christian life.
