1 Corinthians 3:6-9 speaks of planting, watering, and harvesting, but it is God who brings forth growth. How does that metaphor help you to deal with discouragement or maybe even overabundant self-confidence? How have you dealt with emotional or spiritual lows and highs in ministry? Elias Ruiz Jan 17, 2024, 4:25 PM Int-310 Topic 3 – DQ 1  Professor and Classmates,              One of the ways to deal with Spiritual lows or highs is to treat them both the same.  Give God all the Glory in any situation. I rely on scripture like Psalm 42:11: "Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; for I shall yet praise Him, the help of my countenance and my God." (The Holy Bible: English Standard Version, 2001/2016, 1 Psalm 42:11). That’s my answer, always!  It is all His.              The metaphor of planting, watering, and harvesting is often used to illustrate the process of spiritual growth and the roles that different people play in it. In this context, "planting" and "watering" can be seen as human efforts, such as teaching, mentoring, or providing support. The "growth", however, is attributed to God, indicating that ultimate success or progress is beyond human control. If I am discouraged, this metaphor will comfort me because, despite my best efforts, many outcomes are beyond my control. I will do my part (planting and watering), and the rest (growth) is up to God. This will dissolve feelings of failure or discouragement when things don’t go my way. This also emphasizes the importance of patience and faith.             In times of overabundant self-confidence, this metaphor will remind me that success is not due to my efforts and will help prevent arrogance because I am part of a larger process. This metaphor will encourage perseverance and effort (planting and watering) and will stimulate humility and reliance on God (growth).   Pastor Eli   The Holy Bible, English Standard Version. (2016).
