Other than the one you chose for assignment this week, which story of a missionary encouraged you and why? How might reading about the struggles and triumphs of Christian leaders help a leader in formation to grow and develop? Elias Ruiz Jan 24, 2024, 8:26 PM Topic 4 - DQ 1 Jan 24, 2024 Professor and Classmates, I enjoyed reading The Legacy of Horace Newton Allen. He opened the door to the proselytization of Christianity in Korea.  He was involved in arranging a railroad system, an electric company, and becoming an Ambassador to the United States to Korea. The first Protestant resident missionary to Korea was such a person, for he changed from an evangelistic medical vocation to a diplomatic vocation. I compare him to Joseph and Daniel in the scriptures. They were God chosen and became world leaders while being faithful to God. Horace Newton Allen, a devoted Christian, was used by God in so many different ways within the Governments of Korea and the United States. A profound and established medical surgeon, and God used this profession to make him recognized and assigned a Diplomatic position, when he healed Prince Min Yongik, who had been stabbed seven times, and given for dead. This was something that God permitted, so he could become involved in politics, as a Christian.  I am sure God used him in a mighty way, throughout his life, doing the will of God, as a Christian, surgeon, and diplomat. (Kang, 1996)             This example of a God-given calling, and Missionary position, opens up my eyes to what God can accomplish, if we give Him our all, and allow Him to use us for His glory.   Pastor Eli   Kang, W.
