Reflection of God’s Works Alyson Jones Liberty University Online PSYC420: Christianity and Psychology Dr. Gilbert Franco December 6, 2021
Reflection of God’s Work Psychology and theology are two different studies that exist in the same realm. While they both study different things, they can help each other in the long run. Theology focuses on God’s working in the world while psychology focuses on the workings of God’s world (Entwislte, 2015). Having a focus on God’s working in the world means that the focus is on what God is doing in the world. Miracles and the things He does in the world, the focus is on Him. Having a focus on how God’s world works isn’t looking at what God is doing, but what His creation is doing. A lot of times, God isn’t even in the picture because some people don’t believe He exists, which causes the study of His world to become more difficult. How is one to learn about the masterpiece if the artist is no where to be seen? Entwistle says, “A Christian worldview frames the backdrop through which we view reality. (Entwistle, 2015)” Christ is undeniable no matter how the dice are rolled. He is and always will be apart of the world and the people in it. Psychology and Christianity can work together if people try to work them together. While they can work together, there will always be differences between the two, which make them their own studies. However, they cannot be separate because to be a Christian means to work with integrity and honesty in anything that one does (Entwistle, 2015). They can work as puzzle pieces to each other essentially because Christ can fill the empty gaps in psychology. They are both important subjects alone and can function alone, but together they create a much more cohesive study. Nothing works correctly without God in it, to some capacity. John 15:4-5 (NLT) says, “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.” The verse above explains that nothing is possible without Him. He is the vine and we are the branches, meaning we grow from Him. Everything we do, we do to honor Him and to further our relationship with
Him as we get older and learn more. The knowledge that one seeks, should be found through Him so that we is being learned is truth and truth being spread to clients.
