ITL606 THE LEARNER AND LEARNING II COLLABORATE WORKSHEET WEEK 1 If you did not participate in the live Collaborate Session you must (a) view the recorded session, (b) copy as a Word document and complete this worksheet, and (c) submit the completed worksheet. All work, including this worksheet, must be completed satisfactorily to pass this course. All responses should be entered in complete and correct sentences to earn credit. 1. What is the name of your instructor? The instructor for this course is Professor Keith Jaeger. 2. Several skills are noted as necessary for collaboration on slide #4. Which of these will be the most challenging for you? Why? How will you manage the challenge? I think that the requirement I will struggle the most with is making sure to understand other portions of the work. Typically when I work in groups, I get so caught up in my own role, that I neglect the work of others. In this class I will make a point to equally study all the material, what is assigned to myself and to others. 3. Under what circumstance might you submit correct work but receive no credit? What can you do to ensure you receive credit? If you satisfactorily complete the assignment but submit it past the deadline you will be awarded “0” points. To ensure you receive credit, you must submit work that is to the instructors satisfaction before the deadline. 4. What is your personal theory of learning? How does your personal theory of learning compare to the definition of theory presented in the session? My personal theory of learning is that with support and encouragement you can learn and achieve most anything. This is similar to the definition of theory, as it is a concept that is somewhat testable. 5. What is the suggested approach to reading from slide #7? What is the rationale for this suggestion? It is suggested that students first skim over the reading, then re-read focus on information that explains the heading and subheadings. I believe this is to reinforce the core elements of the sections so we can remember more clearly. 6. How will you find out who are your partners for the Signature Assignment? Groups will be announced during the Synchronous session, or relayed by the instructor. 7. Why does your instructor try to give you partners located in your same geographic area? Partners are located in the same geographic area so that it is easier to meet in person if necessary. 8. What should you check to find out how to correctly cite the sources noted in slide #9? Students should check their APA Manual to find out how to correctly cite sources. 9. What are the two discussion board assignments for this week? This week there is a Meet & Greet discussion requirement, the second will be a Threaded Discussion describing strategies for diverse student populations. 10. Regarding the second Discussion Board for Week #1. What is the reason for the two responses to another classmates Discussion Board postings? The reason for two responses is to see the negative and positive responses. It is a good way to practice seeing things from another perspective. 11. When should you make an appointment for the fieldwork assignment? Why? Students should make an appointment this week to ensure they have a teacher to interview and that there are no last minute cancelations. 12. Can you observe in your own school or own classroom? No . 13. What are the two submissions of the Field Work assignment?
Students must submit the assignment on Blackboard for credit. They must also complete the Fieldwork requirement in the ITL 602 toolbar. 14. Only Piaget's cognitive development theory. 18. How are the two options for Assignment 1.3 different? The options differ in that one is a video and the other is an essay. One option is two write a paper displaying your knowledge of the theory, the second option is to record yourself being interviewed and using Erikson's Psychosocial Stages of Development. 20. What must the recorded option include? The recorded option must include answers to 6 questions along with sources to support any answers. 21. How long can the interview be? Interview must be at least 10 minutes long. 22. How long can the paper be? The paper must be at least 3-4 pages long. 23. You will be the interviewee. Who will be the interviewer in the video option? The interviewer should be either a class member or someone else. 24. As the interviewee what two things must you do? The interviewer should ask questions and wait for a response. 25.
