Student Name: Tiffany L. Burns What Solution-Focused strategies would you use with Mr. Alvarez? When working with any client the first course of action is building a rapport. Mr. Alvarez has come to seek services, but he still seems apprehensive. Building a rapport in order for him to be more open is vitally important to his overall success and outcome. Miracle Questions can be beneficial to better understand what someone ’ s desires are. For Mr. Alvarez ’ s one of his current main concerns is lack of employment. Mr. Alvarez has centered most of what he has reported to be associated with his job loss and current lack of employment. I believe what would work best for Mr. Alvarez would be to use the Miracle Question. While I am fairly certain I know what his answer will entail I think it would be useful to better understand his perception. What might be some possible exceptions to Mr. Alvarez “problem”? There are several exceptions that could arise when in discussion with Mr. Alvarez. In building rapport with him and getting him to open up we have learned that Mr. Alvarez has a family (a wife and children). Exceptions that could be present here are familial support system. As sense of enjoyment and excitement associated with spending time with his family. Mr. Alvarez has also been open regarding his Mexican cultural. He takes great pride in what is Mexican cultural bring to him and I believe this would be an exception that would spark person interests and societal supports. Other exceptions include work ethic and self-motivation all of which give can provide Mr. Alvarez with a sense of self-worth and a direction of what is important to work on with him. Write a treatment goal and objectives using Solution-Focused interventions in this module. Treatment Goal: Mr. Alvarez will improve his daily life with positivity and reengage in seeking employment. Objectives (list as many objectives as needed to meet the goal): 1) During sessions engage in discussion with Mr. Alvarez regarding his likes, accomplishment, goals, etc. 2) Focus on all things positive – ask follow up questions to better understand what makes him happiest and brings him joy. 3) Engage in conversation with Mr. Alvarez regarding job prospects. 4) Conduct motivational and positive interviewing practice to assist him with his interviewing skills. 5) Work with Mr. Alvarez to identify positive moments from interviews with prospective employers. 6) Repeat steps as needed. Interventions used in objectives (list all interventions used above in the objective section): Interventions used include brainstorming, mindfulness, miracle question, and building rapport.
