HOW DOES EARLY CHILDHOOD ASSESSMENT DIFFER FROM K-12? Assessment in early childhood programs had a functionally different purpose from what traditionally think of as assessment in k-12 school settings. While assessments provides information on children's academic learning, just as in k-12 settings, early childhood assessment look holistically at individual children and groups of children across developmental domains" (King, H. N.D.).
How do you implement assessment into your program? Meet with the parents establish goals for their child. Then do observations or collect data. Then evaluate the feedback for observations to be able to see where and how you can help them reach their goal Which then you can implement a plan for the child with their parents.
Describe the assessment cycle "Good assessment follows an intentional and reflective process of design, implementation, evaluation, and revision. The Cycle of Assessment relies on four simple but dynamic words to represent this process, Teach, Measure, Reflect, and Plan, and Improve" (HighLineCollege. 2023).
