Reasoning and possible impact of the policy change Looking at any type of policy change or potential impact of a policy change would be the process of implementation. The company culture can essentially make or break a policy change. The policy change can be warranted but it must be implemented in a way that has an infrastructure to support obstacles. Maintaining transparency and reasoning will increase the likelihood of success. Possible barriers and solutions to address them A possible barrier is employee buy-in and basis. When a problem arises that everyone can see it is easy to implement buy-in because the issue is visible. If the organization does not have transparency and an understanding of expectations there cannot be a clear understanding of “right and wrong.” A way to counter these issues prior to implementation is an understanding with high- quality training that outlines “right and wrong.” This will provide the employees with a basis for why a change needs to or should be implemented. How to gain employee buy-in Gaining employee-buy is different for each employee. The idea is to provide purpose and understanding that the implementation of the policies is important to not only the employees but the patrons as well. Job performance Job performance can be a criterion to determine how much buy-in or purpose the organization has provided to an individual. After a person has worked at a company for a while, there is a general understanding of what their capabilities are. A performance evaluation can provide things that an employee needs to work on. This also provides an outlet for the employee to vent or express concerns for implementation and job satisfaction. Job satisfaction This is extremely important. If a person is not satisfied with their job, changes or barriers can cause a decrease in performance or a lack of motivation to produce for the organization. They can be mitigated or countered with the idea or recognition. It is human nature to enjoy being praised, this can be a “good job”, monetary increases, or even awards (i.e., an employee of the month). Making employees feel like they are valued, which in most cases they are, is extremely important. Motivational techniques Using awards, performance evaluations, internal promotions, recognition, and even monetary raises can increase motivation. This can be at specific increments or randomly, either way, this needs to be consistent and understood. The best way to communicate the change throughout the company Email, Memos, Policy previews, training, monthly meetings, etc. all these concepts can create a platform for information to be passed on and understood. It should be a stable portion of an organization. The best way to track it/keep employees accountable for the change
Random, Monthly, Quarterly, and Yearly Audits. Depending on the size of the change and the impact that the change can cause audit and quality assurance are extremely important. This is a way of tracking individual progress and overall progress.
