Good afternoon, The biggest thing for me to remember is that each person is different. Patterns of thought and behavior as well as learning how to adapt to each person to lead more effectively. Knowing that each person’s learning, behavior, and responses are different, it is important to have customizable leadership. Hyperemotional states cannot be maintained for long periods of time thus it is essential to know what motivates people, this is something I have started to learn. Knowing what motivates others allows leadership to bring those methods in to help the employee, patients, community, and business be successful. Persuasion is the process of getting someone to change their behavior and is one of the most important skills of leadership. In a team, you must generalize persuasive messages for the group and customize the message based on feedback. This will allow you to customize one on one messages for individuals that are not “sold” on the concepts. Being an effective teammate can be learned and practiced with concepts of prioritizing team needs over your own. Making sacrifices builds trust and creates a willingness to adapt establishing the idea of reliability. Reliability is important in a team atmosphere. One of the concepts from the Team member video is the idea of underestimating and over- delivering. These key points are a few that stood out the most. The most successful leadership is the ones that show employees that they do care, and willing to show that they are willing to make sacrifices as well. I know as an employee if I have to miss dinner every night my leadership to be able to have dinner with theirs is very one side. I want to create an environment when I am in that leadership role, yes we may miss dinner, but we will miss it together as a team. I learned many things throughout this video but the top three things I learned are sacrifices, teamwork, and communication. Thanks, Kayla Hester
