Week 2 – Initial Discussion Post Both models have their pros and cons to why they work for different people. I think that working either or would be great to better service clients, but I would prefer to work with an agency that provides all services to their clients in one location. I believe that having all services in one location can be beneficial for not just the client but also the human service professionals working with the client. It’s beneficial because it allows for all service providers to work together to provide the best services. For example, if a social worker works in the same location as therapist, it might be easier to update the therapist in person on the assessment taken for this client as well as throughout their progress without having to do it by mail or email. I just think that doing it in person or having meetings with the client to see where they are in their progress might be easier for the client to stay on track. I also think that some clients don’t like the fact that they need to travel to different building and cities to have to get the services needed when they might not have reliable transportation. There are many drawbacks to this model as well. Even though I believe it might be easier for everyone, it may be difficult to provide every service the client may need. It also might be hard to handle a lot of cases at a time which could cause some issues when client’s need assistance at that moment. To overcome these drawbacks, strong communication needs to be encouraged between everyone. For example, if a therapist is overbooked, instead of trying to fit everyone in and making mistakes throughout session, the therapist should let social workers know that they are booked and advise when the next sessions would be open or refer them to another therapist that would help the client.
