2 Principle 1: Make It Your Own Principal 1: The Starbucks guiding principle of Make It Your Own is described in Joseph Michelli's book The Starbucks Experience. This philosophy inspires partnerships and workers to bring their uniqueness and enthusiasm to their work at Starbucks. The "Five Ways of Being" at Starbucks have contributed to the business becoming the prosperous one that it is nowadays while also keeping consumers returning for even more. The "Five Ways of Being" are as follows: (1) Be warm and inviting; (2) Be courteous; (3) Be aware; (4) Be informed; and (5) Be engaged. The same "Five Ways of Being" are often used by educators in their attempts to enhance the institution they oversee. Staying hospitable is the initial approach to show kindness. Being hospitable, in the words of Michelli, is "the basis that creates a consistently pleasant and cozy atmosphere" (2006). Consumers are appropriately received, the experience starts out well, and they start coming back frequently (Michelli, 2006). Pupils deserve to be greeted by educators as soon as they enter the building. Pupils often find that the classroom serves as the greatest environment for them because of the difficulties at home. The instructors and principals should be friendly, and their classroom ought to be a pleasant place. Learners are devoted clients. It would be highly great if they were contented, devoted clients. Leaders at schools must be open to suggestions for how to make them better. Remaining true to yourself is another approach. As stated in the passage, "to be authentic involves the ability to "connect, find, and answer" (Michelli, 2006). The next statement made by Michelli is that "consumers aren't searching for lifelong friendships; they simply seek an enjoyable relationship, and they desire their requirements to count" (2006). Learners desire to establish a good rapport with their educators and share these sentiments. An individual has to be
3 heard beforehand for a relationship to happen, according to Michelli (2006). Forming relationships between teachers and pupils is one of the many crucial components of managing the learning environment as an instructor. Classroom leadership is made simple whenever the link is made and their opinions are acknowledged. To enhance the schools they oversee, admins must remain sincere by developing strong relationships with their pupils. A thoughtful attitude is an additional approach. Being thoughtful at Starbucks entails, according to Michelli (2006), "examining the long-term viability of partnerships and those people whose lives they mutually impact." Teachers and administrators should take into account the demands and satisfaction of their employees and children whilst choosing actions that would eventually better the educational facilities they oversee. Being well-informed is another approach. As stated by Starbucks, "appreciate whatever they achieve and give back to people" is encouraged (Michelli, 2006). All members of the team —students, instructors, and custodians—should be encouraged by educators to enjoy their work and spread it to one another. If every person enjoys whatever they do for a living all parties win. It is wonderful to be equipped to pass on that which you are passionate about to others. Educators may swap strategies with fellow educators who are consistently effective in their classrooms. Learners can assist educators who aren't as tech-aware by sharing everything they have learned regarding the most recent technologies. According to Michelli, "perhaps as we become better educated, our importance to the company, our trust in ourselves, and the actual effect that we have on individuals all improve" (2006). The advantage that teachers and administrators offer to the way business occurs in the everyday operation of the educational industry is immeasurable.

4 The most significant state is involvement. Being involved at Starbucks entails taking a keen interest in the location, the business, and the neighborhood. (2006) (Michelli). To enhance the schools they oversee, leaders may apply a similar principle to their own institution by getting active in the surrounding community, the facility, and the learning environments. Leaders from the school must be present in the school setting, observing the children, and communicating with them. The cafeteria, when kids are loading and unloading buses, especially in the halls throughout class transitions are additional places where educators must be present. Whenever the group's performance falls short, educators must be willing to jump in and help out, whether or not it's entering lunch numbers during lunch or mopping up a mess in the hallways. To show children and their loved ones that a school admin cares about the development of their kid's overall learning, admins should get engaged with community affairs. The "Five Ways of Being" are: be warm and inviting, be courteous, be aware, be informed, and be engaged. These are the five "takeaways" I received upon reading Principle 1 in The Starbucks Experience by Joseph Michelli. The five approaches may be utilized by an educator in every attempt to create the institution that he or she leads. The "Five Ways of Being" are effective and helpful at Starbucks and are also applicable in educational settings. The "Five Ways of Being" can be used by educators to enhance their institutions.
