ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR 2 Introduction: Ethical decision-making is of utmost importance in the operations of international non-profit organizations, particularly when members come from diverse cultural backgrounds. This essay explores the ethical decision-making process within Cooks and Clothing, an International Cultural non-profit organization that provides food and clothing to over 25 countries worldwide. It considers the challenges posed by high-context and low-context cultures in the decision-making process and examines the ethical implications of declining decision-making from low-context members, even if their suggestions could benefit the organization. Content: The decision-making process within Cooks and Clothing is likely to be influenced by the cultural differences among its members. High-context cultures, which prioritize relationship-building and take longer to negotiate, approach decision-making in a more collaborative and inclusive manner. They prioritize establishing relationships and trust before proceeding with any business-related activities. On the other hand, low-context cultures are more task-oriented and tend to negotiate quickly, focusing primarily on achieving specific outcomes (Hofstede, 1980; Luo & Shenkar, 2018). In order to ensure ethical decision-making processes, it is crucial to consider the impact on others from different cultural backgrounds. Ethical decision-making requires taking into account the moral principles, values, and norms of the diverse individuals involved (Allen, 2017; Rivas-Drake, Hughes & Way, 2014). In the case of Cooks and Clothing, decision-making must respect the cultural differences and preferences of both high-context and low-context cultures. One way to approach ethical decision-making in this global environment is by adopting a dual-context approach. This approach combines elements of both high-context and low-context

By recognizing the importance of establishing relationships while not disregarding the need for efficiency and progress, Cooks and Clothing can promote a harmonious and ethical working environment (Thomas, 2018). Another crucial aspect of ethical decision-making in a global non-profit organization like Cooks and Clothing is the consideration of the organization's mission and values. The decisions made should align with the organization's purpose of providing food and clothing to those in need. If a decision proposed by a low-context member benefits the organization and aligns with its mission, declining it solely based on cultural differences would not be ethical. For example, let's assume that a low-context member suggests a cost-cutting measure that could significantly increase the organization's efficiency and allow it to provide food and clothing to a larger number of people. By rejecting this proposal solely because it goes against the traditional relationship-building approach of high-context cultures, Cooks and Clothing would be prioritizing cultural norms over the organization's ultimate purpose and the well-being of those in need. In this case, declining the decision-making from the low-context member would not be ethical. Conclusion: In conclusion, ethical decision-making is vital in a global non-profit organization like Cooks and Clothing. The organization must navigate the cultural differences between high-context and low-context cultures to ensure an inclusive and fair decision-making process. Adopting a dual-context approach allows for the establishment of relationships while still achieving progress and efficiency. Furthermore, declining decision-making from low-context members should not be ethical if the suggestions made align with the organization's mission and benefit its ultimate purpose.
