Accrediting Agencies
National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA)
NCQA is a US non-profit entity dedicated to helping care organizations stand out and offer exceptional personalized care by presenting them with a comprehensive and rigorous framework to enhance their processes and operations and align with standard measurements (National Committee for Quality Assurance, 2023). Through its accreditation schemes, NCQA appraises diverse healthcare entities such as care providers, medical groups, health plans, and others before certifying and accrediting them. Besides, care organizations use NCQA standards as an improvement roadmap to match improvement undertakings and conduct a gap analysis to fulfill the needs of respective employers and states. Two of the accrediting regulations NCQA enforces are HEDIS and PCMH. HEDIS, Healthcare Effectiveness Data, and Information Set regulation help to assess performance on critical care and service dimensions such as patient satisfaction and management of chronic conditions (National Committee for Quality Assurance, 2023). PCMH, Patient-Centered Medical Home, is another NCQA regulation utilized to appraise
primary care practices' efficiency and quality to prioritize personalized care (National Committee
for Quality Assurance, 2023). These regulations ensure that healthcare entities are well-
positioned to offer better quality care. To affirm that my facility is well prepared to conform with these regulations, conducting internal audits on a regular basis would help identify which care aspect lags in complying with the regulations, and corrective measures would be adopted immediately to fulfill compliance. Besides, reviewing NCQA specified demands carefully would help meet these set forth standards
by either training staff members, updating systems, or crafting new processes accordingly.

However, complying with NCQA regulations and maintaining this submission is not straightforward because of some barriers, such as change resistance and resource constraints. Understaff strains and low financial status may make it hard for care entities to enact crucial improvements needed to match compliance demands. More so, staff may be reluctant to embrace
these new changes, such as quality enhancement schemes, which would impede progress (Alshamsi et al., 2020). Nevertheless, it would be easier to persuade others to appreciate continuous improvement with an influential leader who clearly communicates the need to embrace these changes and model commitment. Notably, healthcare administrators remain instrumental throughout the accreditation course. By sharing the bigger vision and ensuring employees align with these objectives, providing tactical guidance, cultivating a compliance culture, and allocating necessary resources,
healthcare administrators would be sure of enhanced submission to NCQA standards (Greenfield
et al., 2011). Again, they can also foster departmental collaboration to foster a unified way of embracing accreditation, which would assist in holistically streamlining processes. With continuous monitoring, healthcare administrators can identify non-compliance aspects and respond with corrective measures to guarantee expected outcomes.
