1. What is your preferred receptive learning style? Choose from the following (you may choose more than one): Over the time I have been alive, my receptive learning style has changed, but there are 2 that tend to be more effective for me. Depending on what I am doing at the moment, decides which I can learn better from. If I am studying for a test or must learn a new objective at work, my learning style tends to be read and write. My brain can absorb the information better and helps me to remember what I have learned. One of my hobbies is building and crafting, so if I must put something together, I learn better by the tactical and kinesthetic style. I like using my hands and seeing how I want something to look like as the final project. How will understanding your learning style help you support your success inside and outside of the classroom? Reading the curriculum and knowing what I need to study for helps me with writing notes. I can go over my notes and remember what I read. Therefore, helps me to prep for tests. This also helps me when it comes to my job. Reading and watching learning tasks and writing down notes to carry with me, helps me to do my job more effectively and efficiently. Some objectives I have come across at work require hands on. For example, working at the paint department required me to know how to mix paint. I learned by doing the tasks with my hands and doing it repeatedly. Making the tactical and kinesthetic learning style more effective in this case.
2. Identify a problem-solving technique or method you have used in a previous situation and explain how it worked for you. Identify how these methods might look different in diverse cultures or different fields of work. I have used every problem-solving technique listed at some point in time. Some have worked in different situations more than others. The technique I use most often is working backward, due to my job being where I come into most of my problems. I work with paperwork and balancing monies that are from the previous day, so I must work backwards when an issue arises. However, trial and error play a big role in this, because sometimes I must try out a solution to see if that is where the issue came from and if not, try another solution. Trial and error is a good technique for a lot of areas, however in some cases could cause a disaster. For example, in the medical field you would not want a surgeon to play trial and error when operating on a patient. They would probably use a means-end technique, I would assume. 3. How do you plan to stay organized or prioritize your SNHU study time I keep a regular schedule between work, study, and picking up my kids from school. I have implemented an availability schedule at work that my job has been very willing to work with me on. My kids’ school gets out at the same time every day, barring some holiday or unplanned change occurs. This helps keep several hours in between getting off work and picking up the kids from school dedicated to my studies. I do my best to do all my studying during the week so that my weekends are clear for family time.
4. List the five habits of successful SNHU students. Refer to the “5 Habits of Successful SNHU Students” infographic linked in the Module Two Resources section. Submit early, log in early, engage often, use rubric, and reach out for help. 5. Choose two of the five habits of successful SNHU students that you feel would be most helpful in prioritizing your study time while at SNHU and explain why. Refer to the “5 Habits of Successful SNHU Students” infographic linked in the Module Two Resources section. I log in early, typically reading the module and reading the required chapters, on the weekend. This allows me to start on the following Monday jotting down notes and working on my discussion board post and the journal entry. I use the rubric to help organize my work. Using the rubric helps me to make sure that all the required bullet points are completed. Utilizing it helps me to keep the objective clear and coherent, while keeping my entries from becoming repetitive and full of run on sentences.
