Britteney Wagner EDU 151 Infusion Activity B: UDL Universal Design for Learning, or UDL, was developed by CAST. (Posey, 2021) CAST is a multifaceted organization with one goal: to break the barrier to learning. You must believe that barriers to learning are in the design of the environment, not the student. (Posey, 2021) "UDL is based on brain science and evidence-based educational practices. It also leverages the power of digital technology." (Posey, 2021) Based on these views, I believe and agree with this theory. I do agree that there are multiple approaches to teaching and learning, and I also support technology. Developing a lesson plan that gives students a concise synopsis of the material and lets them finish the assignment, however, they see fit is one way to apply UDL. This can entail offering them the chance to collaborate in a group or share their individual experiences. By providing these options, teachers can help students select the approach that most suits their learning style and strengths, which will lower anxiety and improve retention of the material. These ideas appeal greatly to me since I recall how uncomfortable some assignments used to make me feel as a student. Stress would be reduced, and I could concentrate on the work, which would help me remember more material if my teachers employed practical methods and gave me the choice to finish the assignments in a way that made sense to me. There are various facts and reasons to back up the claim that Universal Design for Learning (UDL) encourages better teaching methods for all educators. First off, CAST, a diverse organization whose mission is to remove obstacles from learning, created UDL. This suggests that UDL is made to accommodate learners' various needs and foster an inclusive learning environment. Second, brain science and research-proven teaching methods form the foundation of UDL. This indicates that it is based on tried-and-true methods of effective teaching and learning as well as research. Instructors can improve every student's learning experience by implementing these ideas into their lessons. Furthermore, UDL makes use of digital technology. In the current digital era, technology can offer a range of tools and resources to accommodate diverse learning preferences and styles. Teachers can provide students with greater options and flexibility by integrating technology into their lessons, enabling them to interact with the material in ways that best meet their needs. In general, UDL's principles give credibility to the notion that there are multiple approaches to teaching and learning for students. By adopting these ideas and using technology, teachers can make the classroom more productive and inclusive for all students. Posey, A.
