Introduction:

The carcinogenic cells grow and multiply at a very high rate than normal cells do. This results in the need for quick regenerated energy supply and a large supply of precursor molecules. The ATP (adenosine triphosphate) produced by the process of glycolysis is not capable of meeting the needs of a carcinogenic cell. This results in certain metabolic changesbecause of altered gene expression, which further leads to increased uptake of glucose as well asincreased glycolytic activity in transformed cells.
