Concept introduction:
An electrolyte may be defined as the ionic compound that on dissolution in polar solvents dissociates to produces cationic and anionic species. There are three kinds of electrolyte namely strong electrolyte, weak electrolyte, and non-electrolyte.
The strong electrolytes are those which on dissolution dissociates completely into its constituent ions however, the weak electrolytes are partially dissociated. For example, sodium chloride and sulphuric acids are regarded as strong electrolytes while acetic acid is regarded as a weak electrolyte.
Benzene and urea that do not dissociate at all and are termed as non - electrolytes.
