Chapter 8, Problem 127P
A hydraulic press is powered by a remote high-pressure pump. The gage pressure at the pump outlet is 3000 psi, whereas the pressure required for the press is 2750 psi gage, at a flow rate of 0.02 ft3/s. The press and pump are connected by 165 ft of smooth, drawn steel tubing. The fluid is SAE 10W oil at 100°F. Determine the minimum tubing diameter that may be used.

race while the draft tube has a submerged part length of 1.3m. A pressure gauge that installed at
turbine outlet records a pressure head Of -3.1. if the overall efficiency of the turbine is 85% and the
inlet draft tube diameter is 3m. determine the outlet diameter of the draft tube. Assume no leakage
of water in the turbine and the losses through the draft tube is half the kinetic energy at turbine
