Introduction
Oxytocin functions by binding to a receptor present on the target cell. The receptor then signals the message to the downstream elements, which is carried further inside the cell. The function is completed by either initiating a transcription inside the nucleus or by phosphorylating/dephosphorylating other components of the cell.
