Question
Chapter 6, Problem 6.18P
Interpretation Introduction
Interpretation:
It is to be explained which species out of A or B is the stronger acid.
Concept introduction:
The relative acidity of molecules is based on the stability of the charged species. Lesser the stability of positively charged species, stronger is the acid. An increase in the effective electronegativity of an atom bearing a positive charge decreases the stability of the charged species.

11. A man who has recently moved to live in a city that sits at approximately 1,000
meters above sea level, decides to cook pasta for lunch. He follows the directions that
he is used to, and he heats water in a pan and leaves the pasta to cook in the water for
10 minutes. However, after he tastes the pasta, it turns out it is still not fully cooked.
Why do you think this happened?
12.
a. Is it possible to boil water at room temperature?
b. If so, will the boiling water be too hot or will it bearable (not too hot) to
touch?
