Introduction:
The dry weight of a plant material per unit area, or volume in a habitat, is its biomass. Net productivity is the rate at which new biomass is produced. Productivity depends on temperature, availability of water, and nutrients. The interactions between the trophic levels also control productivity in an ecosystem.
