The circulatory system refers to the organ system, which is involved mainly in the transportation of the nutrients, gases, wastes, and other important materials in and out of the cell, tissues, and organs. The circulatory system includes heart, blood, and the blood vessels that are collectively referred to as the cardiovascular system. It can be of two types: open system and closed system. The closed type of circulatory system is mainly present in the higher animals such as chordates.
