Summary Introduction

To discuss:

Difference between the structure and function of DNA and RNA, three types of RNA involved in protein synthesis.

Introduction:

DNA is a genetic material, it carries genetic information from one generation to another. A complete set of genetic materials (both coding and non-coding regions of DNA) of an organism is called as a genome. The total human genome consists of about 3.1 billion base pairs and nearly 20,000 protein coding genes. DNA replication is the first step in the central dogma of biology followed by transcription and translation. In replication, two identical copies of DNA sequences produced from the single DNA sequence. Synthesis of mRNA from DNA is known as transcription, followed by translation, in which protein is synthesized from the mRNA sequence.
