Introduction:
DNA is complexed with various structural proteins and compacted into chromatin. During mitosis, this genetic material is organized and condensed into chromosomes. These chromosomes assume characteristic shapes during metaphase. At the end of mitosis, they are distributed equally into the daughter chromatids maintaining a well-preserved chromosome number.
