Chapter 35.3, Problem 3SB
Summary Introduction

To review:

Association of plants, such as, legumes with bacteria help supply nitrogen to the plants.

Introduction:

The association between bacteria and plants is a two-way process. Legumes get the nitrogen through bacteria. The host plant, in turn, provides organic molecules to the bacteria that is used for their cellular respiration. These bacteria are called as nitrogen-fixing bacteria. A large amount of nitrogen is mainly fixed by Bradyrhizobium and Rhizobium species.
