Introduction:

Worms are the organisms that have a cylindrical body with no eyes and limbs. These organisms are of varying sizes ranging from very minute or microscopic to up to 3.3 feet. Most of the worms live as parasites while others live underground or in a freshwater or marine environment. An example of a worm includes earthworm which belongs to the phylum Annelida.

Explanation of Solution

Segmentation is defined as the division of some parts or the whole body of an organism into a series of repeating segments. 

Segmented worms differ from other worms by the presence of segmentation that divides their whole body completely or partially, the presence of true coelom, presence of digestive system, excretory, and structure for locomotion in each segment. 

In segmented worms, the locomotion becomes efficient. The fluid-filled coelom provides rigid support to the worm. In cases, when there is any damage to any one segment, the work of other segments remains unaffected. One or a group of segments may become specialized for functions like sensation or reproduction.

Conclusion

Segmented worms differ by the presence of a series of repeating structures. The body of segmented worms has a fluid-filled coelom that provides rigidity to the organism. Also the presence of repeating segments allows efficient locomotion and reduces the effect of any damage.
