The planar system or‘ sp2 hybridized present in molecules such as ethylene as illustrated follows:

Each carbon in ethylene is trigonal planar due to sp2 hybridization. The right ethylene molecule as it shows all bonds in same plane. The one on right that has wedge and dash bonds indicate the one bond lie above and below the plane respectively.
