Question
Chapter 2.9, Problem 15P
Interpretation Introduction
Interpretation:
Whether the reaction, CH3COCH3+Na+NH2-------->CH3 COCH2-Na++NH3 will take place to a significant extent as written is to be stated.
Concept introduction:
A strong acid will always donate a proton to a strong base. That is, an acid will donate a proton to the conjucate base of a weaker acid. In other words the conjucate base of a weaker acid will remove a proton from stronger acid.
To determine:
Whether the reaction, CH3COCH3+Na+NH2-------->CH3COCH2-Na++NH3 will take place to a significant extent as written.
