Chapter 26.2, Problem 1LO
Summary Introduction
To compare: Different classification systems for viruses.
Introduction: The International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses (ICTV) has created the taxonomic classification of viruses. It uses conventional groups of order, family, subfamily, and genus. It is not included in the groups of kingdom, class, and phylum. It uses several criteria to produce the viral taxonomy that includes the identification of viruses by metagenomics.
