Concept explainers
Light can travel through a vacuum, as is evidenced when you see the sun or the moon. Can sound travel through a vacuum also? Explain why or why not.
The traveling of sound through vacuum.
Answer to Problem 6A
The sound wave can not travel through vacuum as to travel sound wave we need material medium.
Explanation of Solution
Introduction: The sound is a wave which ravel through material medium.
As the sound is a form of energy and it travel through medium only. It propagates through the compressions & rarefaction so it will only be travel through medium such as air , liquid & solid .
Conclusion: For sound wave traveling the medium is required , it cannot travel in vacuum.
