Chapter 23.6, Problem 5QC
Summary Introduction
To review:
The reason for the cooling effect of evaporation.
Introduction:
The four mechanisms for transfer of heat are conduction, convection, evaporation, and radiation. Radiation accounts for most of the transfer of heat whereas evaporation accounts for about 10% to 25% of the heat transfer between a body and its surroundings, depending upon the conditions. These mechanisms ensure that the temperature of the body does not alter from its normal range, in order to maintain the homeostasis.
