To Explain: Electricity
Explanation of Solution
Introduction:The ions in a solution conducts electricity.
When acids or bases dissociates in water, they produces anions (negatively charged ions) and cations (positively charges ions). These oppositely charged ions conduct current. The more the ions in a solution, the more current it can conduct.
Strong acids or bases dissociate completely in water thereby producing more ions than weak acids or bases, which dissociate only partially, producing low concentration of ions.
Therefore, strong acids or bases conduct more current than weak acids or bases.
Conclusion:The ions produced on dissociation of acids and bases in an aqueous solution conduct current in the solution.
