Will a can of beverage cool just as fast in the regular part of the refrigerator as it will in the freezer compartment? (What physical law do you think about in answering this?)
To explain: If a beverage cools faster in the regular part of a refrigerator or in the freezer. Also, state the law involved behind the answer.
Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
According to Newton’s law of cooling, the heat lost by a body is directly proportional to the temperature difference between the body and its surrounding.
If the beverage is kept in the freezer, the temperature difference between the beverage and the freezer will be greater than the temperature difference between the beverage and the regular part of the refrigerator. According to Newton’s law of cooling, greater the temperature difference, faster the rate of cooling of a body. Hence, the beverage will cool faster in the freezer.
Conclusion:
The beverage will cool faster in the freezer than the regular part of the refrigerator.
