What is the role of 'loose' electrons in heat conductors?
To describe: the role of “loose” electrons in heat conductors.
Answer to Problem 1A
Free electrons will move to the heat conductor.
Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
When a conductor is heated, then its loose electrons are used to transfer heat. The more the number of loose electrons the more will be material conducting in nature.
The heat energy of the conductor is transferred from one energy level to another. The transfer of heat in the conductor is done by using the particles of the conductor. One such particle is a loose electron which helps in transferring the heat energy from one region of the conduction to another region.
Conclusion:
Hence, the loose electron started moving into a heating conductor.
