How does Archimedes' principle relate to
To Explain: The relation between Archimedes’ principle and the convection.
Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
A hot air is light in weight hence it moves in upward direction according to convection. The lighter object floats and heavier object sink down according to Archimedes principle.
In Archimedes principle and convection both, the objects which are hottermove upward as the thermal expansion results the change in the dimension and area of a substance. This reduces the density of the substance, keeping its mass constant and allows the object to move upward. A cold object does not contain heat and so molecules do not expand rather they only contract. Hence, it is heavier than hot object and so it settles down.
Conclusion:
According to Archimedes’ principle, a substance immersed partially or completely in a fluid, experience a force in upward direction due to which it moves upwards and the force is named upthrust.
While convection is a mode of heat transfer in which the particles of the medium which are less dense and warmer than the other particles, continue to move upwards just like in buoyancy.
