Introduction:
Escherichia coli are bacterial cells that are prokaryotic in nature. They lack membrane-bound organelles and well-defined nucleus. They are Gram-negative bacterial cells because of the fact that their cell wall has a thin peptidoglycan layer covered by an outer membrane. They consist of ribosomes which cover approximately 20% of the cell volume.
