Concept introduction:
The dominant intermolecular interaction in the nonpolar molecules is called London dispersion force induced dipole-dipole interactions. It is present when two nonpolar molecules interact with each other. The oppositely charged ends of induced dipoles in nonpolar molecule attract one another. The strength of induced dipole-dipole interaction is very weak; thus, the melting and boiling points of that non-polar compound tend to be low. The strength of induced dipole-induced dipole interaction increases when the number of electrons increases.
