Fungal diseases also called as mycoses are traditionally categorized according to their locations in the body that they affect. Physicians classify mycoses as cutaneous (in the skin), superficial (over the skin), systemic (numerous systems) and subcutaneous (hypodermis and muscles). Cutaneous and superficial mycoses of the nails, hairs, and skin are generally not life-threatening but may cause recurring or chronic diseases.
