Introduction:

Leishmaniasis is a parasitic disease which is caused by the protozoan parasite Leishmania. The main vector for this parasite is the sand flies. This parasite lives in the infected sand flies. Leishmaniasis can occur in a healthy individual by the bite of an infected sand fly. The epidemics of this disease have occurred in the regions of Asia, East Africa, and South America.
