The epidermis is a salty, oily and waterproof barrier that is frequently replaced. The skin is made up of a dermis and epidermis. Sweat glands, hair follicles, and oil glands are contained by leathery dermis, and provide support to the overlying epidermis. The surface of the skin, hair follicles, and sweat glands are inhabited by a number of microorganisms or normal microbiota. For example: Staphylococcus and diphtheroids.
