Introduction:
Rickettsia rickettsii causes “Rocky Mountain spotted fever”, the most reported and severe fever rickettsiosis. Rickettsia rickettsii is typically dormant in salivary glands of its vector tick. It is small, aerobic, nonmotile, intracellular, Gram-negative bacterium that has a peptidoglycan cell wall and outer lipopolysaccharide membrane.
