Answer to Problem AM

The sun traces an ecliptic path annually on the celestial sphere.

Explanation of Solution

All stars appear to be mounted on a very large imaginary sphere with the earth at its centre. This imaginary sphere is called as celestial sphere.

On celestial sphere, the sun is considered to move on ecliptic path around the earth. Though , the sun does not really move around the earth. So the ecliptic path is really a projection of earth’s orbital palne onto the celestial sphere.

Conclusion:

Therefore, the word ecliptic can be picked from the list.
