The process of gene silencing after X-chromosome inactivation (XCI) and give an example of a gene that does not get silenced.

Introduction:

XCI takes place to ensure that the gene expression in both the sexes, male and female, is equal. One of the two chromosomes in females gets heterochromatinized and forms a ‘Barr Body’. There is almost no expression of genes on this chromosome but sometimes, there might be some genes that show ‘leaky’ expression.
