Chapter 16, Problem 14E
Summary Introduction

To explain: The balanced equation for the catabolism of six molecules of G6P by the pentose phosphate pathway followed by the conversion of Ribulose-5-phosphate back to G6P by gluconeogenesis.

Concept introduction:

The pentose phosphate pathway is a direct oxidative pathway that takes place in the cytosol of a cell. This pathway consists of two phases, namely oxidative phase and non-oxidative phase. In oxidative phase, when glucose-6-phosphate (G6P) is oxidized into ribose, 5- phosphate generates NADPH. During the non-oxidative phase, the interconvertion of sugar molecules takes place.

Biochemistry Question. Please help solve. Thank you! Based upon knowledge of oxidation of bioorganic compounds and howmuch energy is released during their oxidation, rank the following, from most to least, with respect to how much energy would be produced from each during their oxidation.
