Concept explainers
Interpretation:
The meaning of statement ‘the solution is saturated’ is to be explained.
Concept introduction:
A solution is formed when solute is dissolved in solvent.
Solution is generally of two types:
Concentrated solution
Dilute solution
Answer to Problem 5A
It means that solvent can’t dissolve more amount of solute in it.
Explanation of Solution
A solution contains solute and solvent. Solute is dissolved in solvent. When solute concentration is high, the solution is concentrated and when solute concentration is low comparative to solvent, the solution is dilute.
A particular amount of solvent can dissolve a fixed amount of solute at a particular temperature. At the maximum concentration of solute which can be dissolved in a given amount of solvent, the solution gets saturated with the solute.
A solution is saturated when solvent can’t dissolve more solute in it.
